Crimson IO LLC ("we", "our", or "us"), operator of Portional, is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
Information We Collect
When you use Portional, you may provide us with profile information (age, sex, height, weight, activity level), food logs, weight entries, water intake, and custom foods or recipes.
If you choose to use Sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email address (or a private relay address) as provided by Apple. This is used solely to identify your account for subscription management.
Apple HealthKit Data
With your explicit permission, Portional may read active energy burned, step count, weight, height, date of birth, and biological sex from HealthKit. We may write dietary energy consumed, weight entries, and water intake to HealthKit.
Important: HealthKit data is stored locally on your device and in your personal iCloud account. We do not have access to your HealthKit data, and it is never transmitted to our servers or shared with third parties.
Camera and Photo Data
With your permission, Portional uses your device's camera for barcode scanning and nutrition label scanning (OCR). All camera and photo processing happens entirely on your device. Photos are never uploaded to our servers or any third-party services.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored locally on your device and synced via Apple's iCloud/CloudKit infrastructure. We do not have servers, and we cannot access your data.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.
Third-Party Services
Portional connects to the following third-party services:
- Open Food Facts — When you search for food or scan a barcode, the search query or barcode number is sent to retrieve nutritional information. No personal data is included.
- USDA FoodData Central — Food search queries are sent to retrieve nutritional information. No personal data is included.
- Apple iCloud (CloudKit) — Your app data syncs across your devices via your personal iCloud account, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Subscription Management — We use a third-party service to manage in-app subscriptions. When you purchase a subscription, this service processes your App Store transaction data, a device identifier, and your subscription status to verify and manage your subscription. If you use Sign in with Apple, your Apple ID may also be shared with this service for account identification. This data is used exclusively for subscription management and is not used for advertising, profiling, or tracking.
Data Retention
Your app data remains on your device and in your iCloud account for as long as you use the app. If you delete the app, on-device data is removed. iCloud data can be managed through your iCloud storage settings. Subscription transaction records are retained by Apple and our subscription management service as required for purchase verification and financial compliance.
Your Rights
You have the right to access, delete, or export your data, and to revoke HealthKit or camera permissions at any time in iOS Settings. Portional includes a data export feature in Settings that lets you download your data as a JSON file.

Children's Privacy
Portional is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
